School of Apostolic Revival (SOAR) and the Prophetic Movement Also known as the Bride of Christ

Represented in the Philippines by Solomon Ocampo and Jonathan David from Malaysia

The Following are some of the heretical and mystical teachings of the SOAR and the Prophetic Movement also known as the Bride of Christ. These articles are excerpts from their own websites.

Authority of the Scripture: The Bible is not the final and complete revelation of God but He continues to reveal Himself to people through their “prophets”. “God is always speaking to us. We may just need to take time out to listen”… “We are following the voice of God everyday. His Spirit is leading us, not into unholy acts, but into righteousness. (John 16:13) This is an act of spiritually hearing, without conscious thought. Hearing the voice and letting it grow bigger only comes over time and yieldedness. (John 12:47-50)”.

The Voice of God: “The revelation came when God spoke to your spirit and it was revealed to you. God actual spoke to you! “.The next step is taking this into the area of conversations with God. Since you are a spirit, and God is going to speak to your spirit, you need to exercise two things. The first is the language of the spirit, or praying in tongues. The more you pray, the more your spirit comes into tune spiritually. This gets you in the right place for the second thing, to listen with your spirit. (Luke 8:15) Your spirit will always know more than your mind. Many times we see missed opportunities that we know we should have done something. Instead of looking at these as failures, look at these and say, what was said? How did I respond? What was going on inside of me? Was it my head or from somewhere else? You can use missed opportunities to grow into hearing the voice of God. “

The Believer's Authority: Jesus Christ has given all believers authority. Authority for the prophetic movement means power of choice, liberty of doing as one pleases, the power of authority (influence) and of right (privilege). They believe that believers have the same authority that Jesus had while He was on earth. According to their website, “The authority that has been passed on to us is proven authority. 1 Cor. 15:24 states that he has put all things under his feet and all things are subdued by him. Jesus today is Lord of all whether people realize it or not. Even the demons recognize His lordship in scripture and give way to His authority. Jesus first sent the 12 and then 70 out to minister in this authority. They came back excited realizing the authority they had been given was true seeing its power working”.

“This is not a time to draw back but to realize we are the final authority everywhere go. Inside of us is the hope of Glory. Inside of us is the Holy Spirit. Inside of us is the authority of God resting”.

Prophetic Words: Prophetic words are truly words of life that come in timely fashion. These "utterances" from God come through yielded vessels to bring further insight, truth and perspectives into people's lives. Prophetic words always confirm things in a person's life and not give absolute direction. True prophetic words always bring a sense of expectation and hope to people's lives. God brings these words of hope to get us refocused, change our thinking concerning spiritual matters, or confirm His love, mercy, grace or whatever we have lacking in our lives…  Their responsibility was to receive the word from the Lord and deliver it to the individual. The individual person then has to decide to accept or reject the word given. Words that you may not understand at the time should not be discarded, but shelved, for a future time that your understanding may be opened”.

The Prophets: on the question, “why the SOAR practices the laying of hands: “The anointing and nature is transferable by touch. This is why we lay hands on people. Just as the Apostle and Prophets (foundation stones) lean in to Jesus (cornerstone).

The prophets and revival: “The Lord Jesus, the Head of the Church, is restoring the gift ministry of the apostle in the church worldwide. The final ‘setting in order of the church’ is taking place so that the Lord can release the last days revival in every nation. The river will flow, but not until the foundations are strongly and properly set, according to the Word of God and not according to denominational tradition”.

The prophets and divine approbation: “And who was being set in order? Apostles, the foundation ministry of the church. The Lord is showing us that the apostles have been set in the church (1Cor.12:28); they are first! They are the foundation ministry upon whom all else is built. Apostles must be received, for when the church receives an apostle they receive Jesus the Messiah and in receiving Him they will receive the Father God!”

According to Paul Galligan’s book “The Spirit and power of Elijah”

  • Adam was the first apostle

“The first apostle was Adam and he is the father of mankind. We are all by nature children of Adam. He was meant to be the father of a godly human race, but the covering we received from Adam was broken when he fell into sin and God could not repair that covering. God intended Adam to be fruitful and multiply and to fill the earth with godly children (Gen.1:28), but Adam failed.”

  • Noah was the second apostle
  • Abraham was the third apostle

“Two thousand years after Adam, God raised up another apostolic father, Abraham. He was called by God, who changed his name from Abram, which means ‘father’, to Abraham, which means ‘father of many’, (Gen.17:5)”.

  • Moses was the fourth apostle

“About four hundred years later, God raised up Moses who became an apostolic father to the children of Israel. Through Moses, God allowed one nation of people to come under an apostolic covering that separated them from all the other nations that were still under the fallen covering of Adam.”

  • Jesus is the apostle of God

“There are many apostolic figures throughout the Old Testament, but the next important apostolic figure is Christ. It is through Christ that the blessing of the promise given to Abraham is released to all. Moses could only give a covering to the Jews. Through Christ that which our father Adam lost, is restored.”

  • Jesus raised 12 apostles

One of the main aspects of Jesus’ ministry was to raise up twelve apostles, who were to be the foundational and leadership ministries of the church. They were the apostolic fathers through whom Jesus gave birth to the church. They are forever the foundation ministries of the eternal church” (Rev.21:14).

  • Jesus Gave His authority to the apostles

“Jesus had authority to fully represent His Father, Matt.28:18 "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth." Jesus commissioned His apostles and sent them out with His authority and power. An apostle is one who will fully represent Jesus in the earth, Matt. 10:40 "He who receives you receives Me and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me." That same authority and power that Jesus had, is released to the Body of Christ through the apostles or those exercising apostolic ministry. Not all are apostles but we are all meant to be apostolic”.

“The spirit and power of Elijah has been restored and is being released. Apostles are being raised ‘grace and apostleship’ is being received again from God the Father through Christ. This is releasing the children of God into apostolic relationships. Apostolic fathers have been restored and many are coming into this experience of grace and apostleship, to be manifest as ‘sons”.

“Jesus appointed apostles as the foundational and leadership ministry of the church, to bring it to completion. The church is not an institution: it is the Body of Christ. We, the church, are sent into the world to preach the gospel. Jesus said to make disciples not church members! The biblical pattern is of an apostolic company not church membership. You become part of an apostolic company by relating to an apostle, by identifying with an apostolic people and all the grace and anointing of the Lord is released”.

Spiritual unity with God: “True unity is being one with Jesus and the Father. The only way for this to happen is to receive the apostles that He sends. Remember Matt.10:40 "He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me." God created us in His own image, according to His likeness (Gen.1:26), and that image is revealed to be God as Father and God as Son; God is Father to a Son and Son to a Father. God is bringing His church into this revelation: He is restoring us to His own image and likeness. Therefore He is raising up apostolic fathers and releasing His children into an experience of sonship, thereby bringing us all into a closer relationship with God”.

The Bride of Christ teaches that the emphasis of the Church is apostolic –prophetic, using such passages as 1 Corinthians 3:10, 12:28, Ephesians 2:19-20, Hebrews 11:10, 1 Corinthians as proof text.

“In the above scriptures we see another reason why apostles and prophets are of vital importance to a local congregation.  Both, as we have said, are called to reveal the Person of Christ.  In Second Peter three and two, the emphasis is on the rhema words of the prophets and the commandments of the apostles. This gives to understand; that the revelation of the Person of Christ, through the mouths of prophets, is more geared in realm of the progression of time.  In other words the prophet is especially gifted and called, to reveal Christ and His purposes in the local body from moment to moment as the circumstances and the affairs of the church warrant it, just as we previously said”.

  • “The prophet also supplies direction, vision, and guidance for a local body”.
  • “The apostolic ministers reveal the Person of Christ, but more so it seems, not in the progression of time, but in relationship to the foundation of the written word”.
  • “The apostolic church is the Bride of Christ”.
  • “The raising up of the apostolic church is the preparation of the Bride of Christ. The preparation of the Bride of Christ will usher in His Second Coming. Rev 19:7  (AV) Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. (Aorist active Indicative) Tense of absolute completion.”
  • “The Apostolic Church is God’s Receptacle or Funneling Ground where He Funnels all that He is and Has.”
  • “The Apostolic Church is the Fullness of God  (The Store House of God’s Invisible Riches (Mysteries) Within the Church which make up the Person of Christ)”
  • “The Apostolic Church Is Fitly Joined Together (Setting the Fullness of God in the Proper Place in the Church)”
  • The Apostolic Church is a Man; The Man Christ Jesus Eph 4:13  Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

“Jesus has commissioned the whole church to be apostolic and we are an apostolic people. We can expect apostolic signs to follow us. Mark 16:17-18 "And these signs will follow those who believe; in My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover." These signs are to follow every believer. They are apostolic signs and they belong to the people of God. They are similar to the signs that Jesus gave to the apostles in Matt.10:8.”

From Paul Galligan manual “He Gave Some To Be Apostles” (chapter 2), I outline the SOAR and Bride of Christ concept of what an apostle is:

  • Apostles are used to plant churches and lay foundations.
  • Apostles are given power by Jesus to heal, cleanse, raise the dead and cast out demons
  • Apostles preach the gospel with signs and wonders
  • Apostles are used by God to release the Holy Spirit.
  • Apostles have authority from Jesus to bind and to loose.
  • Apostles are called to prayer and ministry of the word.
  • Apostles exercise administrative oversight, raising others up to do the work of the ministry.
  • The ministry of the Apostle includes pastoring, feeding and tending, shepherding the flock.
  • Apostles are to minister publicly and from house to house.
  • Apostles are to declare the whole counsel of God.
  • Apostles ordain elders.
  • Apostles are to persevere and expect persecution and tribulation.
  • Apostles carry concern or burden for the churches.
  • The Apostle is prepared to give all for the souls of the saints in the churches.
  • The Apostle does all things for edification of those in the churches.
  • Christ proves Himself mighty in the ministry of the Apostle.
  • An Apostle lives and ministers by the power of God.
  • An Apostle knows the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion (fellowship) of the Holy Spirit
  • The Apostle knows the weapons of warfare and is able to use them effectively.
  • An apostle is able to punish all disobedience.
  • Apostles are not to be compared with each other, or compare themselves with others.
  • Apostles know their sphere of ministry that God has appointed for them.
  • The Apostle facilitates the gospel going to the regions beyond.
  • The Apostle is to obey the command that Jesus gave in Matt. 28:19-20
  • The Apostle can be used to expose false apostles.
  • The Apostle is supported financially by various churches.
  • Apostles are also called to teach.
  • Apostles are sometimes abandoned.
  • The Lord upholds His apostles.
  • Apostles must be disciplined in body/flesh.
  • Apostles must be temperate in all things.

At the first glance at this outline, it seems that there is nothing wrong. But 4 items are historical sign gifts and has nothing to do with the Church Age. It shows that the Prophetic Movement and the Bride of Christ ignores and rejects the dispensational doctrines.

Analysis and Observations:

  • The teachings of SOAR and the Bride of Christ are a blending of mystical, extra-biblical, pseudo-biblical, and nominal Christian doctrines.
  • Almost all the passages they use are taken out of context from questionable versions and translations.
  • Their doctrinal conclusions are based on unsound and violation of the biblical interpretation.
  • Generally, their doctrines are heretical, mystical and unbiblical.
  • There many other dangerous teachings in their websites and printed literatures.
  • They ignored and rejected the doctrine of dispensation.
  • They offer pseudo -salvation and pseudo-spirituality.
  • They major on minor doctrines. For futher readings see Identifying the Cults
